Studio Safety
We are truly navigating through a whole new world these days. Some people think we should not be reopening and its too soon, while others are excited to get back to "normal" and do all the things they used to do. For me, I think the reality is somewhere in the middle. We do need to reopen but we still need to take precautions.
Anyone who has been in my studio knows that I value the safety of my clients. Not only do I try my best to keep things clean and tidy and safe, but I also try to disinfect all my props after use as well as blankets, rugs, wraps etc. And while that was wonderful in the past, I know I need to ramp things up now going forward. Not only because of new government regulations, but also because of the new world we are moving into. We can no longer take our health and the health of others for granted.
From now on, when you arrive at my studio you will be required to remove all outerwear and use the hand sanitizer on your hands before leaving the designated area. I have a "crew" all ready to assist with a thorough disinfecting of all high traffic areas and especially the common areas after use. For the foreseeable future I will not be using any props that cannot be disinfected after use. I have a UV disinfectant light on order, and will be wearing a mask and gloves throughout all sessions.
My studio consists of 2 areas. There is the living room (front) of the condo and the shooting room (back) of the studio. We will be very careful that there is no gathering of clients within the shooting area. In a newborn session we will allow mom and baby only into the space, mom will also be required to wear a mask until it is her turn for photos. Siblings/families will be allowed into the shoot room ONLY when it is their turn for photos and ONLY for as long as that takes. Parents will be required to keep little ones from running and touching surfaces, props etc. Also the front door will be locked once clients have arrived to prevent the public from entering. I will be keeping my studio "by appointment only" at this time.
I will also be working without an assistant for the foreseeable future. As helpful as I find it, I know I can offer comfort and peace of mind to moms if I limit the amount of people in contact with their children.
All newborn clients will be required to leave the hospital and spend 2 weeks in quarantine before entering the studio. This is not something that I am willing to compromise on. I have had great success with newborns between 15 to 18 days so I am honestly not worried about the age of your baby at this time. You will still contact me once baby arrives and we can schedule everything then. If anyone has a fever, cough, sore throat or any other symptoms of illness I will not be performing sessions until you are at least 48 hours symptom free, and I will follow the same lead whenever I enter my studio.
My goal, as always, is to keep your family safe. If we all work together and follow these guidelines then I am confident that we can keep my studio space a safe place.
When shooting outdoors, I will not be wearing a mask, however we will be keeping a 6 foot distance (minimum) at all times. I have long lenses for my camera that make this entirely possible, so there is no need to worry. If you are concerned about anything or feel that I've missed anything in this blog post, please reach out. I am always available to chat and answer questions.
Nearly all my current clients have been rebooked and I will start taking on new clients as of June 15. If you're interested in a session and we haven't worked together before, please wait until then to book, and it is an overwhelming time with keeping everyone organized. I really appreciate new clients, and I want to work with you all, but for now I need to focus on currently booked clients and keeping life in order.
