Hello! Welcome to our new blog. I can't believe we finally got our new website built and up and running. I'm so glad you decided to take a peek!
I'd like to start off with some important information for your newborn booking. What to bring with you to your session! This is easily one of the most common questions I am asked, and one that I address in detail at your consultation.
A lot of new moms can feel overwhelmed even at the thought of having to pack up their new baby (often for the first time since coming home from the hospital) and bring them to the studio. So we try to make things as easy as possible.
First of all, IF you forget anything, you can be assured that we will have it here in the studio. We are stalked with newborn diapers, wipes and even individually sealed and sterilized pacifiers. If there is anything you forgot that we don't have in the studio, Maidstone has a couple great stores nearby where they can be purchased.
Ok, lets get started!
What should I bring for baby?
The simple and sweet answer to this is food, a pacifier and patience. Baby will likely feed more often, and may even require more diaper changes than usual at their session. Babies sooth themselves by sucking, whether its a pacifier, a hand or mom, they often need that soothing to enable them to fall asleep and stay asleep. In order to be as efficient as possible in your session I do highly recommend that you bring a pacifier along, even if baby doesn't normally take one. If you forget, we have some here that are pre-packaged and sterile. When you leave you are welcome to take it with you! <3
“But we have some special items we would like to incorporate.”
That's fine too, as long as it is pre-discussed and included in your questionnaire, we are happy to include sentimental items into your session.
What should I bring for my toddler?
If you've opted for a Family/Newborn session and you are planning on bringing along your toddler/older sibling I have a few recommendations. Bring ALOT of patience, and leave your scolding at home. If they do not cooperate right away, that's ok. We know toddlers, we play by their rules. Eventually they come around and start to show interest in what we are doing.
Bring them a drink! While we do have water and juice available, if you're little one has anything specific that they enjoy please bring it along. We also have snacks available at your session, but you may want to bring them something that you KNOW they will eat as we will likely be at the studio for 2 to 4 hours.
Bring them some bribes! You know your child best. Bring along something that will help get their attention, and ensure their cooperation. We have bribes here as well, but we'll try yours first (I am not above bribing....moms usually don't mind especially when they see BEAUTIFUL smiles on their children's faces)!
Bring them a change of clothes, or dress them in layers. It will be HOT in the studio!
What should I bring for myself?
Mom, you are a rockstar for even getting yourself out here! Its not easy to get a new baby ready and be on time (hopefully at least close to on time) in the morning. Please dress yourself in layers. It is going to be hot and we all know that those post-pregnancy hormones are already kicking our butts! So staying cool is important.
Bring a change of clothes as well. Sometimes we pose baby naked with mom or dad and.....well.....accidents happen. Make sure you can change and be comfortable just in case.
Bring a book, iPad, whatever you need to sit and relax. My assistant Megan and I will take care of everything, so you can kick your feet up, even take a nap if you want. We'll either bring baby back when they are hungry, or when they're all done their modelling debut!
And that's about it! If you need more information please don't hesitate to get in touch!
